Formula Help · Private beta

A clearer way to ask about a spreadsheet formula.

Formula Help is a limited private beta for Excel and Google Sheets questions. Start with a short email about the result you need; we will confirm whether the beta is a fit.

Access is limited during the private beta. This page does not request file uploads.

Formula example

Illustrative example · Excel · comma separator

=SUMIFS(D:D, A:A, G2, B:B, ">="&H2, B:B, "<="&I2)

Example only
It shows one way criteria can be combined. It is not a promised beta outcome.

From spreadsheet friction

Stop rebuilding formulas by trial and error.

The problem: You know the result you need, but nested functions, criteria, separators, and edge cases make the formula hard to finish.

The result: A clear way to request access for a formula question, without uploading your spreadsheet on this page.

How it works

Describe → Review → Receive

01

Describe

Email the result you are trying to calculate and say whether you use Excel or Google Sheets.

02

Review

We review whether the request is a fit for the limited private beta. Please do not include sensitive data.

03

Receive

If access is available, we reply with the next step. A response, timeline, or particular result is not guaranteed.

Example

One formula, with the logic made visible.

Suppose column A contains account names, column B contains dates, and column D contains amounts. You want the total for the account in G2 between the dates in H2 and I2.

Illustrative formula

=SUMIFS(D:D, A:A, G2, B:B, ">="&H2, B:B, "<="&I2)
  1. D:D is the amount column to total.
  2. A:A, G2 keeps rows for the selected account.
  3. B:B is checked against the start and end dates.

Assumption: Values in column B are valid spreadsheet dates.
